Guyon Espiner has covered politics from the press gallery in Parliament since 1998 and took over as Political Editor from Mark Sainsbury in January 2006.
He attended Canterbury University, and then honed his journalistic skills at the Wellington Polytechnic Journalism School (now Massey).
He joined TVNZ in 2003 after ten years in journalism, mainly with newspapers, including working at Wellington's Evening Post, followed by a stint as political editor of the Sunday Star Times.
He's currently playing a central role in the media coverage of NZ’s coming general election.
